Welcome to Kindelspin

Hello dear reader,

today is the day when this blog finally launches. The thought for this first came to me in the spring of 2024 but naturally it took time to grow on me. So finally here we are, ready to embark on a journey together.

Who am I?

My name is Nils and I've been a nerd forever. I was born in 1997 and grew up on Star Wars, Harry Potter, Bionicle and so much other influences from the early 2000s. I've also always been a huge enthusiast of science and where always intrigued by what truly shapes our world. So here we have two interests that will be combined finally. As a physicochemist I also bring in some well based knowledge to explore science itself.

Where does the name come from?

Kindelspin is a neologism derived from 'Kindel' (my surname) and 'spin.' The word 'spin' carries a deliberate ambiguity. On one level, it evokes the idea of 'spinning a yarn,' a phrase associated with storytelling and weaving narratives. On another level, it refers to the quantum property of particles, the 'spin' quantum number, which connects the term to the world of physics and science more broadly. This dual meaning bridges the realms of creativity and scientific inquiry.

What purpose does Kindelspin serve?

Science and Science Fiction. As a creative mind I have created stories in the past and I have pondered scientific questions. So this will be my effort to craft new stories, link scientific concepts to new and past stories and try to explain topics from physics, chemistry and so on to the interested mind.
